Bog’Art is a private construction company, that succeeded in 2008 to exceed the EUR 93 millions threshold, placing itself among the top three construction companies in the country.
With the subsidiaries and group companies founded in Bucharest, Timisoara, Constanta and Pitesti, Bog'Art may ensure construction executions in Romania, as well as abroad, via Bog'Art Leipzig company in Germany.
The first problem to solve was the quick processing of a very high volume of data, specific for a construction company that was continuously climbing. The company felt the need for an IT system able to understand as a whole and in a complete and complex manner the information in the manufacturing, financials-accounting, purchasing and sales, inventory, fixed assets departments, to bring together all these business components and make them work together.
Moreover, the reaction time of the applications used was becoming larger and larger, the information was more difficult to work with, and that is why some small problems have occurred in results' accuracy. "We needed to stop entering data many times in many applications, but to automatically receive them or to compare them with the ones in other department; we needed for everything to run smoothly, quickly and automatically. So we were interested in saving time in the first place" Alexandru Cârstoiu, IT Manager, Bog’art.
First of all, there was the need for an ERP solution, then for a solution including Business Intelligence elements. "It was the time spent for execution, for program response, for providing information and displaying the results for the user that mattered in making the decision. And then, the accuracy of the results also meant a lot", Alexandru Cârstoiu, IT Manager, Bog’art.
When making the decision at the end of 2002, Bog’art was already aware of TotalSoft, from which they have purchased Primavera project management solution in 1997. In fact, "the integration of Primavera with Charisma Enterprise was the main advantage that made us choose TotalSoft as the main IT solution provider within Bog’Art group of companies" Alexandru Cârstoiu, IT Manager, Bog'art.
Another advantage for the project was that TotalSoft team included specialists who knew the construction field very well, which led to “clearly understanding Bog’art's needs and translating them into an exceptional integrated information system", as Alexandru Cârstoiu, Bog'art IT Manager appreciates.
Bog’art project started by carefully analyzing and understanding the company's needs and requirements, followed by discussions and analysis together with Bog'art's personnel, which was to be directly involved, but also with end information beneficiaries, namely company's Top Management.
"A very important moment was the data import from the old to the new system, being closely doubled by operations such as master data checking, analysis and correction. After successfully completing the implementation, together with our TotalSoft colleagues we continued to develop a series of specific reports and options, thus taking advantage of the modularity and open architecture of Charisma system", Alexandru Cârstoiu, IT Manager, Bog’art.
The implementation was complex and had to be performed in several stages, because, next to the implementation of standard Charisma modules, the product had to be integrated with Primavera product, followed by a series of specific developments required by Bog’art, and even by the development of a Business Intelligence solution.
The project was not exactly easy.“Any implementation of such dimension translates into hundreds of hours of work, tens of analysis and tests nights, a huge quantity of coffee and patience from both sides, but the final satisfaction is tremendous" Alexandru Cârstoiu, IT Manager, Bog’art.
For TotalSoft, Bog’art project was a real challenge, first of all because of its complex business and large volume of data flow (customers, suppliers, invoices, everything related to information - from the site notice to the final report), but also because of its continuous expansion with new developments.
Today, Bog’art benefits from a great information system with Charisma Enterprise as the main pillar. The information is now available from everywhere in the world via a browser. Either in Bucharest, Paris, Timisoara or on any of the construction sites, Bog’art people have access to information, they can check their documents and therefore make immediate decisions based on real data.
